International Symposium on Low Power Electronics and Design

This is an event dedicated to low power design and technologies. It covers everything from optimization techniques at the system level, simulation and synthesis tools, to process and circuit technologies. The sponsors include, IEEE Circuits and Systems Society, ACM SIGDA, IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society, and the IEEE Electron Devices Society. For example, one of the presentations from last year’s event was entitled Low Power Design – From Technology Challenges to Great Products. This is a nice presentation which starts of explaining why power consumption is a problem and than giving you an idea of what you can do about it. The Symposium will be taking place on August 27-29 2007 in Portland, Oregon, USA. This event also has a design competition; however the deadline is on June 18, 2007. Go to the ISLPED-2007 homepage for registration and additional information. I like the fact that there is such a strong academic push in Low Power Design and that innovation is being encouraged by incentives like the design contest.
