Low Power Wireless Connectivity

There is a new range of low power RF devices from Freescale Semiconductor, including a UHF transceiver and a low voltage receiver. These devices are designed to make it easy to add wireless control to a broad range of applications. They can support all ISM frequency bands (315, 434, 868 and 915 MHz). Both the transmitter and receiver feature fast wake up times, as well as 250nA current consumption in standby and 25µA in auto wake-up mode. Freescale also provides reference designs making it easy to demonstrate and evaluate the low-power capabilities of their technology. I would definitely look into their products when working on an application requiring remote access with a long battery life.
