Millicomputing Blog

What is a Millicomputer? This was the first thought that popped in my mind when I came across this blog. The term “millicomputer” was proposed by Adrian Cockcroft, and is defined as a computer system based on a CPU that consumes less than one watt. Adrian is interested in building general purpose computing systems based on low power devices. He created a blog devoted to defining and building open hardware designs for general purpose millicomputer systems. The blog is filled with interesting, leading edge technologies all focused on power consumption. What I like most about this blog is the fundamental idea behind it. Adrian has started a collaboration of minds working on one common goal. As more people join and share their ideas innovations will shortly follow. I believe that mass collaboration and open source designs are the most effective way to drive technology forward. If you want to learn more about the mass collaboration framework and how it is revolutionizing today’s businesses, I recommend you read a book titled Wikinomics. Also, please visit Adrian’s blog and help the spread of low power design.
