Ultra Low Voltage x86 Processor

VIA has added a 500MHz ultra low power processor to their EDAN ULV family. This is said to be the world’s most power efficient x86 compatible CPU. Drawing a minimum 0.1 Watts in idle and a maximum 1 Watt. The 500MHz processor outperforms AMD’s low power line which at 500MHz has a typical power consumption of 1.8 Watts. It is aimed at ultra mobile devices, including smaller and slimmer notebooks, which are becoming more popular.  With so much computing power and so little power consumption, I think this processor will also drive innovation in embedded mobile industrial devices.
